After 3 years Eid prayers likely to be held at Eidgah this year

Srinagar, Apr 04: Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board chairperson Darakhshan Andrabi said on Tuesday that congregational Eid prayers are likely to be held in Srinagar Eidgah if weather conditions remain favorable.

Speaking to media persons, she said that Eid prayers were not held at Eidgah for the past 3 years due to concerns about potential law-and-order situations.

“This year, the Eid namaz will be offered at the Eidgah. There is a good atmosphere in Kashmir now, and it is the administration’s endeavor to have the Eid namaz at the Eidgah,” she said.

Andrabi said that all preparations would be made to ensure a smooth offering of the prayer.  She said, “Now, Kashmir seeks stability, progress, and wealth. Let’s not dwell on the past.”

“For the past many years,  Eid prayers were not held here, and we will make all the arrangements like drainage and a sound system so the prayers will be held here,” Andrabi added.

According to the head of the Waqf board, Eidgah is the face of the city, and it will be improved with suitable facilities.

“To make Eidgah ready for the upcoming Eid, all necessary arrangements  will be put in place. Eidgah is the face of the city and it will be developed and made better with proper facilities,” the Waqf chairperson said.
